No. 3 / What I’m Listening To

Share It!

Hi, hey, ho there.

Each week I post a set of new songs (& an occasional concert series) – whether they’re brand new or just new to me. There’s no theme nor set genre, just a weekly collection of rad songs I think you should know about.

P.S.: Check out this series playlist (& others!) on YouTube at The Wayward Walrus.

1. NAVAJO | Masego

After a YouTube rabbit hole starting with FKJ, I landed on this COLORS video of Masego. It was my first COLORS video and to say I’ve been hooked ever since, would be an understatement.

2. SHY LUV | Like a River ft. Bakar

Think Bloc Party meets Chromeo.

3. NPR MUSIC FRONT ROW CONCERT | Bon Iver

Some series feels with this one. I’ve always had a soft spot for  some Bon Iver but I’ve never heard them live until I found this little NPR concert. And my god are they good and honestly, not at all what I was expecting to hear out of a live Bon Iver set.

4. LOSING MY WAY | FKJ & Tom Misch

Since hearing about about him not too long ago and then seeing him slay his Suwannee Hulaween set in October, FKJ has quickly become one of my favorite artists. Accompanying him here is the equally talented, Tom Misch. You’ll def be hearing more about him later on.

5. DON’T LOOK BACK IN ANGER  | Portugal. The Man (Oasis Cover)

It’s no secret I’ve been a huge Portugal. The Man fan since my friend dragged me to their set at our first music festival, Bonnaroo 2014. Since then they’ve been on Alt-J status with me, and for me that’s big thing. You can clearly hear their sound mature through the progression of their albums, up until the most recent release ‘Woodstock.

Every time I go to Ireland, this song inevitably gets played at some bar with a drunken slew of accompanying singers. Now if only they could play this cover instead, my ears would be much happier.

6. LOSE SLEEP | Remi ft. Jordan Rakei

Some seriously smooth vocals here too. Not to mention a message worth listening to.

7. PHONE DOWN | Handmade Moments (Erykah Badu Cover)

From the string bass to her raspy vocal, this duo is too perfect.
