Where to Stay In Kaş

By traveling on the cusp of off season I was able to score an incredible deal at Hotel Ferah, a 3-star boutique hotel right in the center of Kaş.

For less than $25USD a night, I stayed in a recently renovated and not to mention, beautiful double room with my own balcony and free breakfast. If that wasn’t enough, the employees are incredibly welcoming and served breakfast on the gorgeous terrace with views of the water. Also there was a super furry dog named Molly. We became BFF’s.

Since Booking.com isn’t allowed in Turkey, I made the initial reservation through Hotels.com but extended my stay because I loved Kaş so much and the owners honored the same price.

Where to Eat in Kaş

Oburus Momus

In an effort to reduce my meat consumption, I’ve started checking out the local veggie and vegan eateries during my travels. And man what a great decision this has been because I swear every single one of these places ends up being DELICIOUS!

Oburus Momus is the only veggie restaurant in Kaş and well worth the visit for lunch or dinner. I went twice and each visit was just as scrumptious. Also highly recommend the onion rings.

Whether you’re more of a beach bum looking to relax, a history nerd, or maybe a bit of both on vacation, there’s something in store for you in Kaş
 

Rent a Scooter & Head to Kaputas Beach

After first spotting this literal roadside paradise from the bus on the way to Kaş from Fethiye, I noted its location in my Google maps, determined to get back there. Turns out Kaputas Beach is a well known beach right outside of Kaş.

Although there are local dolmuş buses that can get you there, you have to pay close attention to the times. If you miss the last bus leaving Kaputas, especially during the off season, you may be SOL.

Instead rent a cheap scooter in town head to Kaputas at your leisure. The road is incredibly easy to navigate (it’s pretty much a straight shot out of the city) and local cars drove well out of our way to pass our huffing and puffing little motorbikes up the hills. If you don’t mind driving the scooter back at night, sunsets here are absolutely killer.

Discover the Ancient City of Antiphellos

Right on the outskirts of town is Antiphellos, one of the most important port cities for the ancient Lycians. As such, the massive theater in Antiphellos is one of the oldest and the only theater facing the sea in all of Anatolia.

Walk Around the Picturesque Town Center

One thing that got me hard in the feels for Kaş was merely just walking around the town itself. The laid back vibe is immediately evident as you meander through colorful streets, many of them plastered with patriotic Turkish flags. Be sure to spend at least one afternoon or evening checking out the shops and cute galleries lining the streets and pedestrian walkways.

People Watch at Republic Square

Republic Square acts as a hub for Kaş. Close to the harbor and cafes, you’ll find activity at all times of the day here. On the way back from the local bars one night we came across what we later deemed as the Gozleme Lady. Essentially just an older woman who straight up sat in the middle of the square making fresh gozleme off a hot stone. 10/10 would recommend the Gozeleme Lady’s goods.

Chill out at the beach clubs

Although there aren’t many beaches persay to visit in Kaş, there is no shortage of waterside beach clubs and cafes where you can soak up the sun and grab a bite to eat. I visited

Leymona Beach Club and Restaurant while I was there and would happily recommend to other visitors. And no, I’m not just saying that because I made a new dog friend here. Okay maybe just a little.

Check Out the Tiny But Pretty Derya Beach

So like I said, there aren’t many beach options in Kaş. But this little sliver of beach is right down the street from Republic Square and although it was too cold for me in October, would have been a great swim spot.

Full day boat tour of Kekova Island

Easily my favorite day spent in Kaş, a full day boat tour of the uninhabited island of Kekova and its surrounding areas is not to be missed.

Along the way you’ll stop to swim and snorkel, eat a delicious traditional Turkish lunch prepared on board, tour the ancient sunken city of Kekova, and dock in the small village of Kaleköy for the afternoon where you can trek to the castle of Simena. Best of all, the tour will only set you back around 160 Turksih lira (for shoulder season pricing, could be a bit more during summer).

Although every stop on the Turquoise Coast was incredible in its own right, traveling to Kaş was undoubetly one of the best stops on my Turkish Riviera route.
